Branding
Description
A patient-data platform serving hospital systems, built by a team that over-corrected into clinical sterility. The brand looked and felt colder than the institutions it was trying to sell into and colder still than the patients whose data it ultimately protected. Trust in healthcare requires warmth as much as competence.
Challenge
Clinical, detached tone was alienating two audiences at once — hospital staff who needed to feel confident adopting new software, and patients who needed to feel safe. The brand read as a compliance tool, not a piece of care infrastructure. That distinction mattered enormously to the buyers actually signing contracts.
Solution
Warmed the palette without softening the substance — kept the language precise and technically accurate, but rebuilt the tone around care rather than compliance. Typography loosened. Photography shifted from abstract data visualizations to real clinical environments. Every page still spoke to a hospital IT buyer, but no longer sounded like it was written for one exclusively.
Result
The pilot hospital extended its contract before the original trial period had even ended. Staff onboarding feedback specifically cited the platform “not feeling like enterprise software.” Sales team began using the rebrand as a differentiator against larger, colder incumbents.
